Types of Insurance • Liability Insurance • Personal Injury

It’s important to understand the different types of auto insurance. Types of auto insurance include liability, PIP and UIM. We recommend you have all three. Each type of insurance is designed to give you coverage in case of a motor vehicle accident. Always be aware of the types of insurance covered in your auto insurance policy. At TCLMD we’ll educate you on the types of insurance available for auto insurance.
Liability Insurance
Liability insurance protects you if you cause damage to another person. Liability insurance doesn’t cover your own vehicle. And liability insurance doesn’t cover your medical expenses. Never assume what your liability insurance covers. Read your liability insurance policy. Or ask us to help you understand the benefits of your liability insurance policy.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
Personal Injury Protection or PIP covers your own injuries. Personal Injury Protection will cover your medical expenses and property damage. Personal Injury Protection will also cover your lost wages if you miss work. Again, know the dollar and benefit limits of your PIP policy. Assuming what your PIP covers can cost you time and money.
Uninsured Motor Coverage (UIM)
Uninsured Motor Coverage or UIM covers you if you’re hit by someone without insurance. Uninsured motor coverage will cover damages if the other person’s insurance can’t cover the damages. How important is uninsured motor coverage? In 2009 the Office of the Insurance Commissioner gave out some surprising facts. They reported 1 in 6 drivers don’t have auto insurance. Do you want to take the risk of poor auto insurance coverage?
