Frank B. Ladenburg, Jr.

FRANK B. LADENBURG, JR. was admitted to practice law in the state of Washington in 1974 after attending Gonzaga Law School and has practiced his entire career with the firm.  Mr. Ladenburg limits his practice to trial work in the area of personal injury, in particular, automobile accidents, wrongful death, medical negligence, construction site accidents, and premises liability. 

From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Ladenburg was the president of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association.  In 2001, Mr. Ladenburg was president of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association.  Mr. Ladenburg has also been a part-time municipal court judge, a teacher at the Local People's Law School, and a frequent presenter at the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA) events.  In addition, he has served as chairman of WSTLA's Insurance Law Section and WSTLA's Development Committee. 

Mr. Ladenburg is the author of an article published in the Best of WSTLA Trial Notebook on depositions and preparation of witnesses for testimony.  He is also the author of the chapter in the Accident Litigation Deskbook published by WSTLA regarding negotiating a claim to settlement and finalizing a settlement.  Mr. Ladenburg has been selected as a Washington Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics for the past several years, including 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.  Only five percent of Washington attorneys receive this honor each year, which is voted on by the attorney's peers.  

Frank's wife of 35 years, Denise, is a pediatric nurse practitioner and together, they have six children.


Michael J. McKasy

Michael J. McKasy has been a partner in the firm of Troup, Christnacht, Ladenburg, McKasy & Durkin, Inc., P.S. since 1979.  He first joined the firm in 1974 as a legal intern.  In 1976, he accepted a position as an associate, and then became partner in 1979.

Mike graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Math and a B.S. in Education.  He then obtained his law degree from Seattle University School of Law.

Mr. McKasy's main focus is personal injury law.  The last few years, he has settled multi-million dollar cases in the areas of automobile negligence and product liability.  He also does work in the areas of wrongful death, construction site accidents, medical negligence, and premises liability.  

Mike has been a member of the American Bar Association and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association since 1976.  He was president of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association in 1993.  He has also been a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association since 1976.  He is actively involved with his church in Federal Way and with Habitat for Humanity in South King County.  

Mr. McKasy has been selected as a Washington Super Lawyer by Washington Law and Politics for the past several years, including 2004, 2005, and 2006.  Only five percent of Washington attorneys receive this honor each year, which is voted on by the attorney's peers.  

He has been married to his wife, Peggy, who is a commercial lending banker, for 35 years and has two children.


John J. Durkin

JOHN J. DURKIN has been a partner in the firm of Troup, Christnacht, Ladenburg, McKasy and Durkin, Inc., P.S. since 1987.  John is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a Bachelor of Art in accounting.  He then attended Gonzaga University law School and received his juris doctorate degree in May of 1980.  While in law school, John was a member of the National Moot Court team and also an associate editor or The Gonzaga Law Review.

Following law school, John accepted a clerkship with the Honorable Smithmoore P. Meyers, Magistrate of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.  Upon completing that clerkship, John became a member of the law firm of Troup, Christnacht, Ladenburg, McKasy and Durkin, Inc., P.S.

At the present time, Mr. Durkin's legal practice focuses mainly upon bodily injury claims as a consequence of the negligence of others.  These types of cases include wrongful death, construction site accidents, pedestrian accidents, automobile accidents, product liability, and medical and dental claims.  

Mr. Durkin is presently a member of the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association Board of Directors and has been for six years.  He was chairman of the WSTLA Court Rules Committee during the years 2000-2001.  John has been a member of the Puget Sound Inn of the Court and has served as the vice president of the Gonzaga University School of Law Board of Advisers.  Mr. Durkin is also a member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Trial Lawyers Association.  Mr. Durkin has been a member and past president of the University Place Section of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association.

Mr. Durkin's wife, Didi, is a registered nurse and they have been married for 25 years and have five children.  .  


James F. Christnacht

JAMES F. CHRISTNACHT was admitted to practice law in the state of Washington in 1984 after having attended the University of Puget Sound School of Law.  Mr. Christnacht has engaged in the general practice of law since his admission to the bar. He is admitted to practice before the Washington State Courts, Federal District Court and the Puyallup Tribal Court. His practice has included injury claims, probate, guardianship, wills and estate planning, bankruptcy, misdemeanor criminal defense, domestic and dissolution matters, real estate, and business law.

Mr. Christnacht is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Trial Lawyers Association, and the Pierce County Bar Association.  He has been involved in the local bar bar association on the guardianship, family law, and volunteer legal assistance committees.  For the past 15 years, he has been actively involved with the Crimestoppers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving no-lead crimes.

Mr. Christnacht also acts as guardian for many disabled American veterans both individually and as the director of Comprehensive Guardianship Services, Inc., a nonprofit corporation.   He has acted a guardian individually since 1986.

He has also been chairman of the Board of Advisors for the Clover Park Technical College Legal Secretary program.

He and his wife, Debbie, have been married 18 years and have three children.


Shelly K. Speir
SHELLY K. SPEIR was admitted to practice law in 1998 after graduating from Seattle University School of Law. Ms. Speir was a solo practitioner in the area of land use and real estate law prior to joining the law firm of Troup, Christnacht, Ladenburg, McKasy & Durkin in 2000.  Since that time, she has expanded her practice to include plaintiffs' personal injury, estate planning and probate, and adoptions.  Ms. Speir is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association, and the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association and has been named a "Super Lawyer--Rising Star" by Washington Law & Politics.
